In spring 2011 FAE reported the following story: Film maker Nicole Cattell is planning to shoot a documentary film about mermaids. She is looking for funding and an executive producer. Nicole told FAE, “I became interested in mermaids after I found a Haitian Voudou flag of a mermaid in New Orleans. I brought her home and started thinking and reading about mermaids and my obsession began from there. To me, the mermaid is one of the most proliferated remnants of ancient goddess lore, and my film is a search to reclaim the sacred mermaid who I believe is the generator of love. So the film will be a journey through mermaid lore around the world and through time. Along the way, I will retell the mermaid stories I encounter and explore their meanings.”

This is bound to be an interesting documentary. How can we assist in the funding to help Miss Cattell make the documentary?

If you are interested in a “mermaid story” please let me know. I may have seen a phenomenon in Hawaii back in 80′s and want to write about my experience. I hope you get the $$$ to fund this movie. I, for one am excited about mermaids!

  • Good luck with your project. Let us know if you’d like any mermaid artwork for the film. You can find the images at .

I’ve got an idea for a story about mermaids and this would be a good avenue to research & develop it. It’s I story I haven’t seen before but I haven’t explored the mythology of it in much detail. This is certainly a good step in the realization of humankind’s origin from the sea. Perhaps we evolved this way.
